Movies have been an escape from reality for decades.
In just a couple of short hours, you can go on an emotion-ridden journey, immerse yourself inside a new world, and even come out on the other end as a changed person. Yup, movies are pretty incredible.
However, with the endless amount of streaming sites and options, it can be overwhelming to find something to watch. This is a great movie to watch with your family or significant other as you guys can debate about the ending!
2. Julie and Julia
Sometimes you just want to watch something that'll leave you warm inside, especially during chaotic times. This feel good movie is sure to lift your spirits! First time viewer or fifteenth time viewer, Space Jam is definitely a must-watch.
6. A Quiet Place
This horror/thriller is the first of its kind. When earth is over-run with creatures that hunt people down through noise, things start to get intense very quickly. The story follows the Abbott family as they navigate their lives in their new reality, never making any noise whatsoever. This film will have you sitting on the edge of your seat and afraid to make loud noises long after the movie is over. Bonus: Emily Blunt and John Krasinski in the same movie? Yes. Please.
When a meteor hits earth, it gives way to an unknown zone on the planet nicknamed the “Shimmer.” Lena, a US Army soldier, was previously a part of an exploratory group to enter the shimmer and was the only one to return. Through a series of actions it becomes clear that Lena is going to have to go back into the shimmer, but the question is, what will be waiting for her there? This science fiction thriller is sure to expand your imagination and keep you entertained.
8. I, Tonya
We all know the Tonya Harding story, but what happened behind the scenes? Who really is Tonya Harding and what made her to be the woman she was at the time of the attack? This film takes a controversial topic and cracks it wide open, making you feel sympathy and anger toward characters you never expected.
9. When Harry Met Sally
Oh come on! I know you expected this. Probably the most classic rom-com, When Harry Met Sally follows the story of Harry Burns and Sally Albright. Both have just graduated from the University of Chicago and are making the journey out to New York city. While life leads them in different directions, they meet up five years later to find each other in shocking positions in their lives. 10. Leap Year
When successful real estate stager Anna Brady can’t seem to get her long term boyfriend to take the hint that she would like to get married, she decides to take matters into her own hands. Will a couple days with a rugged Irish man change her desire to get engaged?
11. Frozen 2
Chances are some of you are looking for a way to entertain your kids and Disney Plus has got you covered! They just released the Frozen sequel and this is sure to keep your kids (and you) entertained for a couple of hours. This movie will have you giggling and blushing like your good ol' teenage days (and young Heath Ledger – RIP – was soooo dreamy).
This movie is loved by so many people but for a long time it was hard to find on streaming sites. Well, Disney has answered our prayers and given us a movie we forgot we needed. A classic story about a likable boy who really just is unlucky, we follow the story of Stanley Yelnats and his pre-destined quest. A heartwarming story, examples of true friendship, and young Shia Lebouf, what’s not to love?
15. Thor Ragnarok
While all the Avengers movies are great, there is a sense of comedy and joy that is unique to Thor. His character just contrasts perfectly with his brother Loki, so you are constantly entertained and intrigued on how they are going to interact with each other. While their dynamic has long been established, in this movie their long lost sister comes in to shake things up. Also, is there anyone who's more easy on the eyes than Chris Hemsworth? Answer: no.
