Show of hands: how many of you have found yourself losing track of the days?
Feeling in a bit of an unproductive funk? If your hand is up (or if you’re feeling this way at all), you’re not alone. As we’re all well into our quarantine, it’s safe to say that while the “work from home” life is what we’ve always dreamed of, it’s not exactly what we’ve dreeeeamed of. It’s natural to feel like kickin’ back, allll the way back during this time – but here’s an idea: why not take this time to be productive?
Stay in the swing of productivity and watch the days go by faster. Here are four ideas to keep you busy and moving: all while staying at home.
1. Make a List(s)
It’s easier to get sh*t done when it’s visibly right in front of you. Making to-do lists for work, chores, or just for things you want to accomplish during this quarantine will help you prioritize what needs to be done and give you the satisfaction of crossing things off. Create a list in the notes app on your phone or write it down if you’re old school, the only important thing is that you’re getting things done throughout the day.
2. Home Workouts
The gyms may be closed, and as upsetting as that is for some, it’s for a very good reason! Don’t let the circumstances stop you from getting those #gains! If you’ve always had the intentions of getting started on a fitness journey, but never had the time (or any other excuse) – look at you now: you’ve got nothing but time!
Take some time out of your day to move your body. Home gym equipment is great: resistance bands, free weights, etc. Don’t have any of that? There are thousands of free home workout infographics on Pinterest that even suggest household objects that can double as workout equipment. Need a bit of guidance to get started? YouTube is also home to free workout videos that vary from core work to dance cardio and everything in-between.
Want a more personalized challenge? Nike Training App (available on both the Google Play and App Store) is an app filled with guided HIIT workouts. Browse through the selection of workouts and create a new routine every day. Come out of this quarantine looking better than ever.

3. Get Dressed
We’ll keep it simple here. No one wants to get “dressed for work” to go work in the living room – and we’re not saying to do that either. However, one way to get a little productivity flowing is to get out of your pajamas and into some “work” clothes! Whether that’s leggings and a t shirt or a fun jumpsuit, changing into something fresh will help you jump start your day.
While looking through your closet for something to wear, you can take the opportunity to try out new outfits! Put pieces together and test them out all within the comfort of your own home, and find out where it’s #ootd-worthy or a fashion disaster. Be even more productive and clean out your closet! Gather clothes you don’t wear anymore and donate them to your local Goodwill once quarantine is over. It's a win-win for everyone.
4. Self Care
You’ll see this just about anywhere, but self care is a 100% NEED. What exactly is self care? Any little thing that takes care of YOU. Take this time to complete an extensive skin care routine. Use the ample time at home to scour Pinterest for healthy recipes and try them out. Practice yoga, (like, for real) complete with deep breathing and the clearing of your mind.
Be mindful of how you’re feeling and what you can do to improve it while home, such as breathing exercises, meditation, and virtually connecting with a friend! This quarantine may be overwhelming and unsettling for some and it is of utmost importance (and very productive) to set aside some time to truly take care of yourself.
The reality is: we don’t know how long we’re going to be urged to stay home.
However, despite how drastically our everyday lives have changed, the idea of social distancing/self-quarantine is one of the best things we can do to do our part in containing the virus. All this being said, it’s just as important to not lose sight of yourself, your goals, and what needs to get done on a daily basis.
Practicing productivity will keep you on track and fresh-minded – and before you know it, things will get better and we’ll be out and about. Stay productive. Stay healthy. Stay positive. Share some of your productivity tips in the comments below! We'd love to hear them.
