Our beautiful world is chock full of incredible places!
From the soaring peaks of the Alps, to the picturesque lakeside towns in Norway, to the vast wetlands in North America, we’re spoiled for choice. How are you supposed to narrow it down for your honeymoon? It might help to decide what kind of honeymoon you and your future spouse want to experience. Here’s a look at “honeymoon styles” and the locations that fit them:
If you’re looking for romance…
...head to the sparkling canals of Venice, Italy.
Italy is the place to be for a romantic honeymoon, and Venice offers such wonders as gondola rides, a breathtaking view of the sunset from St. Mark’s Square, delicious Italian food at charming water-side restaurants, and of course that famous treat that’s the true star of Italy—gelato.
If you want an adventure…
…there’s no better place than Cape Town, South Africa.
Africa immediately brings to mind wildlife safaris, and while you can definitely enjoy the thrill of getting out into the wilderness to see zebras, lions, elephants, and so much more, there are other adventures to be had. You can cage dive with great white sharks, paraglide from the mountainous peaks, hang out with penguins down by the beach, and on and on the list goes.
If your goal is to relax…
...take your honeymoon off the beaten path to Yasawa, Fiji.
One of the less populated of Fiji’s islands, Yasawa boasts everything you could ask for from a tropical getaway, including white sandy beaches and luxurious resorts. Scuba diving and snorkeling are always activities you can enjoy, but if all you want is to soak up the sun, there are plenty of romantic, relaxing places to stay.
If you want to be surrounded by nature…
...where better to go than the famous Yellowstone National Park?
Yellowstone is most famous for its hydrothermal activity, but once you’re away from the geysers and hot springs, it’s pure, unspoiled wilderness. There are plenty of places to camp that all offer a different piece of the Yellowstone experience, since the park stretches into Wyoming, Montana, and parts of Idaho. Best of all, if you’re a fan of stargazing, the wide open skies and lack of city lights combine to give you a stunning display of starlight like you’ve never seen.
If you crave exotic...
...the place to be is Marrakech, Morocco.
Most well-known for its souks (markets), Marrakech is a thriving city with significant history, amazing people, wonderful food, and an atmosphere like nowhere else in the world. After you’ve wandered the medieval alleys of the medina (the old town) and sampled the famous (and delicious) mint tea, head to a hammam for Morocco’s version of a spa treatment. You’ll be slathered in mud, rubbed down until your skin is raw, and massaged to heavenly bliss.
Important honeymoon tip: don't take your expensive engagement ring and wedding bands!
